Ervin Denver Taylor, Jr. was born on October 7, 1946 in Cleveland, Ohio to the
late Rev. Ervin Taylor, Sr. and Goneba Ratchford Taylor. He was baptized at an
early age where he became a member of First Baptist of Village Springs. He
grew up in Village Springs, as a darling of his family and his community.
He attended Ketona School from 1-8 grades and spent a part of his high school
years at Hooper City High. He graduated from North Jefferson High
School in 1965. He went on to college at Alabama A & M where he played in the
band. He was drafted into the army in 1968 and retired after 20 years of
service.
After retirement, he went on to graduate from Augusta College with a
major in Business Administration in 1991.
He served as pastor in Germany and then in Ragland at Ebenezer Missionary
Baptist Church for eight years.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his 99- year old mother, Goneba Ratchford
Taylor, twin children, Carol Taylor-Ali and Daryl Martin Taylor, one grandson,
Naji Amir Ali, one brother Marvin (Linda) Taylor, a niece, Dr. Michelle (Jody)
Owens, a nephew, Marvin Taylor, Jr, a 97-year old uncle, Monroe Ratchford, 2
great nephews, one great niece, and a host of cousins, classmates, and friends.
